An Afternoon with Holly Alexander
Holly and I have been trying to get a shoot date together for a while. It turned to that we both had a couple of hours free the other week after I was teaching at Wolverhampton Uni, so Holly popped up and we broke out the Mamiya & X-Pro2 to shoot some stuff. We didn’t have time to shoot a ‘Towel’ image so there will be a part two to this shoot !
(check my youtube blog page – https://www.youtube.com/c/DaveKaiPiper)
The fun thing about this shoot was that we also used the 35mm Nikon FG-20. Which I could process my self at uni in the darkrooms. This was the very first time I ever took and processed a film image myself – which was very fun. As you can see from the images below which are images take of the prints. I still have lots to learn – but the process was quite fun.
Across the three images below I do prefer the image on the far right – even though my image of this print is a bit dark. The print in the middle was made using a paint brush to add the developer before dropping it into the fix. Hopefully I will be shooting more and more film.
We also shot some stuff on the Mamiya! Which you can see below – I am still not sure if I have the perfect technique using film cameras & I did lose quite a few images from this shoot which was a shame. I think it was something to do with me having the wrong ISO level set – not sure but.. Sorry Holly !! I am somewhat of a newbie with film – but.. I love the look and feel of these. Scanned in and edited in Photoshop.
As always though – as I am not that confident using film – I am still shooting both digital and film. These images below were taken on the X-Pro2. All shot using the Acros film simulation mode and in JEPG – which a slight twist in Lightroom.
