BTS – AKA Hairdessers
Way back in 2012, we did a shoot for Bristol based hairdressers AKA. A few weeks before the shoot Chloe-Jasmine and I headed up to meet Richard at the salon to plan the shoot. Richard asked if we could shoot in the Salon it’s self, after we checked some ideas we agreed and got to work planning the shoot.
The shoot was for the L’Oreal colour trophy and promotional images among other things. Shooting in such a confined locations did mean some interesting lighting settings and also meant being portable and efficient with space. We used a low power strobe as a main light and mixed that with a SB910 speedlight modified with an Orbis ring flash. As the element of colour was of great importance, we used the Sigma SD1 camera and the razor sharp Sigma 105mm lens. The Sigma is an interesting camera but really is a superb camera in a controlled environment such as this.
Paul and I were up at 5am and headed to Bristol, we meet up with the rest of the team and got to work setting up. Shooting in the confined space with prep going on right next to use was unusual but fun.
Since it is a while ago that the shoot actually took place, I have edited up a couple of new photos from the day. A huge thank you for every who took part and helped. There must of been at least 15 people in the salon at one point. A long busy day, but we got stunning results due to all the hard work put in.
