High Speed Sync (HSS) – The Gin Bottle Demo
One of the most common questions I get asked is about using flash with the Fujifilm system. A few weeks ago I was asked to help with some videos about how to set up the V6II triggers
A few weeks ago I was asked to help with some videos about how to set up the V6II triggers for the Fujifilm cameras. We thought it would be a great chance to also make a little video demonstrating HSS in action. We set up a very quick set up to show how simple it can be to use flash at 8000th of a second.

Shooting HSS has a range of benefits, capturing fast flowing liquid being just one of many. These examples below show you can shoot wide open with, while underexposing a background – then using flash to enhance your subject. Thank you to my buddy Richie Knight for helping with this shot.
Make sure you also check out the wonderful work post by Paul Monaghan and his examples of using HSS with outdoor portraits & make sure you do the latest update of the firmware for the Cactus triggers too. Click here for the update: https://www.cactus-image.com/downloads.html
Cactus has also made these neat little guides to setting up and using your lights – If you are having trouble updating… check the video at the bottom – I have made a little video in which I show the updating process.
