Mini Project (Close Product Photography)
I have always had a great joy in watching how product photography is done so decided to breakout the camera gear and shoot some product photography of my own.
The first thing to decide was the style of images, since I have not shot much macro with the Sigma 105mm, I thought it might be quite fun to go for the close up macro style product shot.
I used a very simple speedlight set up:
- 2x Godex speedlights
- Set of Pocket Wizard tt5
- Orbis ringflash
- Frio Coldshoe adapters
- Nikon D800
- Sigma 105mm
- Tethertools cables & Jerkstoppers
- 3 Legged thing
- Lexar Cards
Shooting macro or product shots is all about lighting, I used the same idea of hard light and soft light to create my shadows.
Both lights were kept at the same distance but with different qualities of light. I kept the lights as close and bright as I could to let me get my f-stop to about f22 to try and get as much in focus as I could. I thought about doing some focus stacking, but, preferred the DOF that this set up gave me.
