Sequence 9 – TimeLapse
This short film was and is an first and foremost and experiment for myself in the ways that Photography can evolve. In the sense that I am what you can call a “stills” photographer, in the current world of HDSLR and DSLR camera’s, film makers and Photographers have been sharing common ground of late. One area that both worlds clash more than any has to be the still frame Time Lapse. On of my very good friends (James Madelin – CEO EnlightPhoto) has been busy with his new ioShutter Project – (link). In a nut shell, the ioShutter is a able and an App which lets you very easily control your camera for timelapse photography and long exposure photography.
After shooting lots of timelapse and landscape photography on the D800 and the Canon 5dm3, I had to get round to editing the still frames into films. Paul McKelvie showed me how to get them from Lightroom to Premiere Pro, and how to have them looking nice. But, this still seemed a little bit empty and just a set of nice timelapses was something I had seen before. I decided to add in a few other bits of footage and came up with Sequence 9.
This is my attempt at creating a time lapse inspired film to portray many of the beautiful places I have been and and playing about with the idea of inner beauty and self awareness. Being a photographer, we have choices to make. There are two main types of photographer, one type creates photographs and the other just takes them. This film is deigned to blur the lines of the two.
Shot in the USA and UK.
Camera work by Paul McKelvie and Dave Kai Piper.
